hikin' with my sister

sister katie was in town for like 72 hours and she wanted to go hiking on wednesday so we headed up to stuart falls above sundance. gorgeous right? she snapped some pics with her cell phone so i give you the world's worst pictures, enjoy....
it felt weird to be surrounded by snow while being in a tank top. like i was in narnia or something.
this is as close as we got cause there was a river running underneath the snow and we didn't want to risk falling to our death. it might have put a damper on our day.
katie left this little man for the next lonely hikers.
she convinced me to do a snow angel and i'll do anything for a blog post. she pretended like the picture wasn't working so i laid there for much longer than i needed to. mean sister. i had to hike back with soggy bum.
we followed the hike with frozen yogurt and swimming all day. perfect day. we had fun while she was in town, but it  went by way too fast! come back kk, you too chris, and bring kimmy this time!

utah valley marathon recap

well i survived my first marathon. the race started out great, i felt good. my goal was to qualify for the boston marathon (you would have to keep an 8:24 pace for the whole 26.2 miles). up until mile 21 i was under pace, averaging an 8:17 per mile and then it happened. BAM! i ran right into the dreaded "wall". my puke started flyin' everywhere! basically the last five miles was adam encouraging me to keep going while i grandma shuffled to the finish leaving my insides along the course. sorry, that's gross.
i'm so happy it's over! toward the end i vowed i would never put myself through that kind of pain and emotional roller coaster again. however, as the days go on and my legs are feeling less ripped to shreds, i'm slowly forgetting how much it hurt and planning my next marathon. i feel like i need to redeem myself!
my family was all there to cheer me on at the end. i'm smiling in the picture above but don't be deceived, i felt like death was upon me. oh, and did i mention that my husband decided at 8:30 pm the night before the race that he was going to run the whole marathon with me the next morning? he did. he ran the whole thing right next to me, cheering me on and wasn't even sore the next day. he's amazing, i love that man!

also worth mentioning, my cute mom ran the half marathon, her very first one ever! it was the day before she turned 51. she did great and is already planning her next one. also, my cute sister-in-law jen ran the marathon too, her second one and she's only 20 years old! she's awesome!

going topless

since the weather forecast has no more rainy days ahead, adam decided to take the top off our jeep. summer can now officially start!

from now on we will be spending our summer nights cruisin' around town pumpin' some jams and eating tons of these...
(the "king kong kone" equivalent of sno cones, it's called the "big kahuna")

tomorrow i run my marathon that i've been training for for the last 4 months. i thought it would never come, but alas it's tomorrow at 6 am and i've had butterflies in my stomach all day. i hate that feeling. wish me luck!

an oldie but a goodie

our house was built in 1954, it's old enough to be our parents. one of the pros of buying an older home and fixing it up versus buying a new home is all the trees and flowers that have been growing there for years.
i love when stuff starts poppin up all over the place so i pluck it and put it around my house. fresh flowers just make you happy when you see them inside ya know?
i love the differents plants that bloom during the different seasons. next up all my daisy plants will be blooming, can't wait!

would you rather wednesday: bachelorette dummies

would you rather....
have seen bentley stay
(anyone else think he looks like a lumberjack?)
OR
creepy mask man jeff?
(i kept wondering if maybe he was covering up some bad burns like the phantom)

honestly i was so happy to see both go! usually i like see the drama queens stay because they keep the show interesting but bentley was such a terrible human being that i'm not going to miss him one bit! and jeff....i want to know why he ever thought that mask was a good idea. i wanted him gone the second he stepped out of the limo day one. ahhh, too hard to choose....who were you happier to see leave?

trekin'

last thursday we woke up at 4:30 am to start our journey to wyoming for the youth pioneer trek. it was a six hour drive and adam got a speeding ticket on the way. he was only going 7 over the speed limit and the cop still wrote him a citation even though we told him we were on our way to the trek. come on man, have a heart! here's some of our trip documented...

incase you're wondering, yes, this is authentic pioneer attire.

here's our awesome little family that we were ma and pa over
adam found this little guy on the trail and carried him with him for atleast a mile even though he was peeing on his hand the whole time. we named him toad ferguson.
he is so confident in his masculinity that he doesn't mind wearing my cheetah sunglasses. that's hot.

these boys were all a hoot! the life of the party

even though i mummured like laman and lemuel for weeks that we had to go on this trek, i'm really glad i went. it was a great experience and made me have a much greater apprecitation for the pioneers. although, i'm really happy to be showering again!

"do it rockapella"

if any of you used to watch the show "where in the world is carmen sandiego" then you know who rockapella is. for those of you who didn't, they're an men's acapella group.
we went with our friends last week to see them in concert. it was great and fun and then they made one of my dreams come true....
one of the guys came out into the crowd and pulled me on stage for two full songs. while being on stage they serenaded me, held my hand, and put their arms around me. they also made me sing (which was mortifying, i never sing karaoke for a reason). i have video of it but couldn't upload it for some reason.
it was both embarrassing and so much fun! now if only justin bieber will pull me up on stage and sing "one less lonely girl" i can die happy.
for some strange reason spot the dog made an appearance before the concert. adam caught this pic of some kid gettin all up in his grill. poor spot.
